Every book gets its own schedule, set by how many copies are listed. On a last copy, Hunter looks every 30 minutes - 48 times a day, per book. Where there are plenty around, every 6 hours is enough. The attention goes where the copies are scarce.
It never gets bored of looking
A book down to its last copy is checked 48 times a day - overnight, at the weekend, on the morning you are too busy to look. Over a month that is 1,440 goes at the same book. Nobody sustains that by hand, and that is the whole point.
